# Stock in and stock out

Items in a slot are written by the machine (the Hub tells the machine how many to add or remove, and waits until the machine confirms it), so when changing stock we recommend using **On the machine**.

## On the machine

For a physical refill, use [Refill](/en/guides/navody/everyday-operation/doplneni.md), which also allows unloading.

## From the machine detail in the Hub

The machine must be **online**. Remote stocking does not put an item into the spiral — it only aligns the records, when the goods are already in the slot and the Hub does not know about them, or the other way around. When the records and the spiral do not match, first align the quantities so the next sale does not charge a price for an item that is not in the machine.

In the Hub, on the machine detail, on the **Slot layout** tab → slot detail → **Stock** or **Clear**.

* Stocking adds the entered quantity. When there is less room on the machine than the Hub expected, only what fits is inserted.
* Clearing with an entered quantity takes the oldest items (nearest expiry).

### Bulk change

On the **Slot layout** tab, select the slots and **Stock to capacity** or **Clear all stock**. The Hub splits a machine with a large number of slots into more batches. After confirming, wait a moment until the quantities in the grid align. If the page reloads sooner, reload it once more.
