# Assign a product to a slot

A slot is one position in the machine (spiral, belt, push). A product has to be assigned and stocked on the slot so that it is shown to the customer on the sales grid.

## Catalog

The first step is creating the product in the Hub on the [**Products**](https://github.com/PixelDev-CZ/spiroq-docs/tree/main/HUB/produkty.md) tab. Create it by hand, or by [import](/en/guides/navody/everyday-operation/import-produktu.md). Without a created product there is nothing to assign in the slot.

## Assignment in the Hub

1. Open the machine detail → **Slot layout** tab.
2. Tap the slot, select the assigned product, and save.
3. You edit more slots at once with the **Bulk edit slots** button on the same tab.

When the machine is online, the layout is written through automatically. When it is not online, it is saved in the Hub and after the connection you finish it with the **Pair planned layout** button (a warning on the machine detail).

## Replacing a slot that has a different product stocked

When changing the product, these options are offered:

* **Clear now.** The Hub first has the machine empty the slot and only then replaces the product. The machine must be online.
* **Clear on refill.** The new product appears in the slot only after the technician unloads the old one on the machine during [refill](/en/guides/navody/everyday-operation/doplneni.md). Until then the current goods are sold.

You save a template of the whole sales grid and load it onto another machine of the same size in **Templates**. Templates are available on the **Pro** plan, the same as bulk slot editing.

## What is not shown on the sales grid

The product must be **created in the catalog, assigned on the slot, and stocked** so that it is shown to the customer on the sales grid. Blocked slots are not shown on the sales grid either — see [Problem with slot dispensing](/en/guides/navody/troubleshooting/slot-neprodava.md).
